Well, this team made sure to reassure me throughout the entire process and got straight to work. Quick and efficient. It didn’t take longer than a couple of days either, I’m very thankful and I’ll be recommending to friends and family.Posted on Google![]()

Several nails had worked upward beneath the shingles and created small raised spots. The affected shingles were removed, the fasteners corrected, and new pieces installed in their place. The repair was limited and fairly priced. Nothing else was pushed on us.Posted on Google![]()

The gray shingles on the upper roof look really good, with neat, even lines. The crew is still working on the lower flat section, so the job isn’t finished yet, but the progress looks good so far. Looking forward to seeing it all completed.+0Posted on Google![]()

My partner was concerned about how the roof would look from the upstairs windows, meanwhile I mostly cared about the garage studio not dripping onto my things. Both concerns were handled. Royal Roofing Long Island replaced the old roof with a self-adhered modified-bitumen system, added insulation, and corrected the low corner where water kept sitting. The first sample was much shinier than we expected and looked odd against the house. We asked for a darker finish, which added a day but was worth it especially since the job itself took only a few days. The roof looks and my tools are no longer covered with plastic whenever rain is coming.Posted on Google![]()

A storm lifted part of the membrane near the edge of our roof. Royal Roofing Long Island inspected the surrounding area, confirmed that the damage was limited, and repaired it with matching TPO material. The edge metal was also secured so the same section would not lift again. The repair blends in well and was completed faster than expected. I would definitely use them again.Posted on Google![]()

The biggest difference with our new roof is how quickly the water drains. The old surface had several low spots and was covered with aging patches. New tapered insulation was installed along with a cover board and EPDM membrane. They also rebuilt the rear scupper and replaced the wall flashing. Cleanup was handled well and everything finished on schedule. We are very happy with the result.Posted on Google![]()

We use a small rooftop cistern to collect rainwater for landscaping. The tank was not extremely heavy, but its supports covered portions of the aging membrane and complicated access to one drain. Replacing the roof required more than sliding it to the other side. A plumber drained and disconnected the non-potable system before roofing began. The empty cistern was moved to a protected staging area, exposing several compressed pads and one membrane abrasion below it. Moisture had not reached the deck. The roof received new insulation, membrane, drain details, and designated support pads for the reset cistern. The tank location shifted slightly to preserve a clearer maintenance path. Reconnection and pump testing remained under the plumber’s scope. The pump did not restart correctly on the first attempt, which added a return visit from the plumber. The roofing work was already complete and weather-tight. No plants were relying on the stored water during that interval. The cistern is operating again, the drain is accessible, and no support rests directly on an unprotected membrane area. The project also left us with a clearer division between roof maintenance and irrigation equipment service.Posted on Google![]()

Our parapets were failing above the roofline at the same time the flat roof was nearing the end of its life. Loose mortar, cracked coping joints, and repeated membrane patches made it difficult to tell whether water entered through the masonry or roofing. Completing only one scope would have left the other as an immediate weakness. A mason and roofing estimator inspected the walls together. The final sequence placed structural masonry repairs first, followed by roof removal, insulation, membrane, wall flashing, and resetting the reusable coping stones. Neighboring access was arranged because one parapet could not be reached safely from our side alone. The roof remained temporarily protected while the mortar cured. That pause added several days to the schedule, but it prevented new flashing from being installed against unfinished masonry. The coping stones were numbered so they could return to their original positions. Removal exposed damaged wood along one wall and dry decking elsewhere. The wood allowance covered more than was ultimately needed. Photographs showed the repaired edge and the new membrane extending beneath the parapet details. Masonry dust reached the neighboring patio on the first day despite the ground protection. The area was cleaned, and the covering was widened before work resumed. Our neighbor confirmed the condition before access ended. The new roof uses tapered insulation around the drain and consistent flashing heights along the repaired walls. The coping joints now align with the underlying protection instead of sitting above random roof-cement patches. Final documents separate masonry, wood, roofing, and optional work. Two seasons have passed without the top-floor wall darkening. The parapets remain stable, the drain clears normally, and the roof edge is easier to inspect. Coordinating both trades was slower than hiring them independently, but it produced one connected water-management system.

Frequently Asked Questions About Storm Damage Roof Repair In Long Island
Are Long Island roofs more vulnerable to storm damage because of coastal weather?
Yes. Long Island properties are frequently exposed to coastal storms, strong winds, heavy rainfall, hurricanes, and nor’easters. These weather conditions can accelerate roofing wear and increase the risk of storm-related damage compared to inland areas.
What types of storm damage are most common on Long Island roofs?
The most common storm-related roofing issues on Long Island include missing shingles, wind uplift damage, roof leaks, flashing failures, clogged drainage systems, and damage caused by falling branches or debris during severe weather events.
Should I have my roof inspected after a major Long Island storm even if I don't see visible damage?
Yes. Many roofing problems caused by storms are not immediately visible from the ground. A professional inspection can identify hidden damage before it leads to leaks, structural issues, or costly repairs.
Can coastal storms affect flat roofs on Long Island buildings?
Absolutely. Flat roofing systems can experience membrane damage, drainage issues, ponding water, and flashing failures after severe coastal storms. Regular inspections help identify problems before they worsen.
